    Ride Around the Pioneers in One Day (RATPOD)

    Dillon, Montana was the host once again for the 2015 RATPOD/Camp Make-A-Dream fundraiser, a 130 mile one day bike ride through the remarkable scenery of Southwest Montana, including the Beaverhead, Grasshopper and Big Hole Valleys. This is the 14th year for the ride which starts and ends in Dillon, Montana, at the University of Montana-Western campus. By registering for the RATPOD, each rider agrees to raise a minimum of $100 in donations for the cause of Camp Mak-A-Dream. RATPOD is the acronym for Ride Around The Pioneers in One Day. This event was the brainchild of several Missoula area physicians who were looking for a way to create a great ride and benefit a good cause. Mission accomplished on both fronts. The ride has grown dramatically over the last several years to enjoy the amazing Beaverhead County, Montana scenery through the Big Hole Valley of Western Montana. Last year’s event raised an astounding $450,000. Dillon is a great community to live and enjoy the remarkable West!

    June Market Update

    Hello everyone and welcome to June and a great selling season here in Southwest Montana. The year has been flying by and we at Beaverhead Home & Ranch Real Estate hope all you outdoorsmen were able to get your special permits in for what promises to be an incredible
    big game season, only three months left to practice up for the archery season!!! If you missed the dates, it’s understandable. When you live in a place where the area’s top tail­water
    fishery flows through town, the Big Hole River just outside of town and the Madison, Ruby and Jefferson Rivers are all within an hours drive, it’s tough to stay focused on hunting season. It becomes particularly difficult when the Salmon Flies are within a few days of hatching. If you’re an angler and haven’t cast two inch long dry­flies emulating the earth’s largest stonefly into the large undercut banks of the Big Hole River to giant trout gorging themselves silly, you have yet to cross off one of the major items atop the ultimate fly fishing bucket list.

    We would love to congratulate all the students and staff at Beaverhead County Schools and The University of Montana Western. You have all had another extremely successful year in the classroom and in athletic competition. It is a privilege to be part of such an incredible community offering such top­notch opportunities for young people. We are proud to support these institutions and hope everyone has a safe and entertaining summer break.

    The market in this neck of the woods is holding up nicely. Agriculture continues to be our largest market driving force in the farm and ranch division. With cattle prices maintaining a record high, all good agricultural properties are being snapped up and bringing record prices in the sprinkler irrigated arena. If you have property which is agriculture oriented and have considered selling, this is an excellent time to have it on the market. We have seen a high demand for Spring Creek and River properties as well. With the above mentioned world class trout fishing in the area, these properties are bringing top dollar.

    Market Update

    Congratulations to the Hale Family and Keith Handlos on the closing of the Bar 3 J Ranch north of Dillon, MT. This immaculate operation consisted of 488.5 +/- Acres in the shadow of the Pioneer Mountains. Ranch headquarters included a home, working corrals, shop & corrals all in near perfect condition. Beaverhead Home & Ranch Real Estate is thankful for the opportunity to have assisted in the sale of this fine property.

    Wet Weather

    Southwest Montana, Beaverhead County and the general Dillon area have received over an inch of rain in the last 72 hours, according to NOAA Weather Center. In our country, the right moisture at the right time grows some great forage. The area’s agricultural real estate will see our native cool season grass species come on with this rain including Sandberg Bluegrass and June grass. Idaho Fescue, Bluebunch Wheatgrass, Green Needlegrass and Needle & Thread will be making our hills green the next few weeks! Cattle will be getting fat, calves will be growing-

    It has been a busy week for Beaverhead Home & Ranch Real Estate!

    Gary Love has had a big week landing a ranch listing, the Quarter Circle C Ranch near Dell MT in addition to teaming up with Keith Handlos to get the River Birch Ranch under contract!

    The Quarter Circle C ranch is comprised of 1300 +/- deeded acres, 590 of which are irrigated via 3 pivots. The owners are currently running over 300 cow/calf pairs aided by supplemental grazing on both private and federal leases. This ranch enjoys a solid balance of production and recreation.
