The Stibal Ranch is located in southwestern Montana in the Centennial Valley, southeast of the town of Lima (population 227). The ranch is accessed via gravel and the Centennial Valley Road. Dillon (population 3,700) is a 1½ hour drive and Idaho Falls is 2½ hours to the south of the ranch on Interstate 15 and provides a commercial airport, as does Butte, MT which is 2½ hours to the north. The Idaho border is approximately 30 miles south of the ranch and Yellowstone National Park is 50 miles to the east.

The Centennial Valley is very big country. It’s a place of sweeping grasslands and wetlands, embraced by the forest ragged peaks of the Centennial and Gravelly Mountains. The Centennial Valley looks very much as it did more than a century ago. In parts of the valley, not so much as a power line mars the view. In the winter, just a handful of people inhabit the valley. Summer, the human population is usually fewer than 100 — and they are far outnumbered by cattle.
The Centennial Valley stretches out just beyond the western border of Yellowstone National Park and contains critical migration routes for wildlife throughout the Northern Rockies. The valley’s expansive wetlands are home to hundreds of bird species, and Red Rock River system is one of the last places where rare Arctic grayling survive. It supports grizzlies, wolves, elk, deer, and the other magnificent wildlife that draws millions of visitors to Yellowstone.
The lakes and wetlands of the 45,000-acre Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge give life to 241 species of birds. The valley contains the highest nest density in the west for trumpeter swans, and lies along one of only two primary swan migration corridors. The Centennial Valley also hosts the densest population of peregrine falcons and ferruginous hawks in Montana, and a healthy population of bald eagles and osprey.

The topography of the ranch is primarily native range. The ranch does enjoy water rights that allow the current operators to flood irrigate close to the ranch headquarters. The Red Rock River meanders through the deeded acreage for approximately 2+ miles allowing for some sub-irrigation. A developed pond north of the headquarters know as Lousy Springs as well as Brundage Creek provide stock water to the cattle.
The Centennial Valley is renowned for prime summer grazing producing hard grass and heavy fall calves. The ranch is well watered via 3 creeks and 10-12 undeveloped springs. In addition the owners have begun application for an EQIP program to develop additional stock water. The grazing leases are fenced in with the deeded acreage with copies of all permits and carrying capacity available.

The Centennial Valley is primarily thought of as wide open cattle country but is highly sought after by elk hunter’s every fall. As winter sets in elk and deer migrate from the high country through the valley getting the attention of big game hunters
The ranch is located in Montana Hunting District 324. Elk and Deer tags are available to both resident and non-resident hunters alike. Elk, deer, bear and moose have been viewed on the property. The waterfowl hunter will take interest as the properties riparian area and crop-lands are situated to provide the perfect setup for a field shoot. Combine this structure with the fact that the ranch is in the pacific flyway and you have the recipe for incredible waterfowl hunting.
The ranch is proximal and adjacent to thousands of acres of public lands that provide limitless opportunity for recreationalists of all types.
For the aspiring fisherman, opportunities are endless with mountain creeks available in close proximity to the ranch.
